01
Start with the resource your workload exhausts first
Consider an EPYC dedicated server for memory-heavy applications, parallel compute or several services on one host. Collect peak memory use, CPU saturation, working-set size, storage growth and backup windows. Averages can hide the limiting resource.
Choose enough capacity for the application and its operating tasks: updates, temporary files, logs, backup jobs and recovery. More cores will not automatically fix an application waiting on a single thread, a slow remote dependency or storage latency. The best configuration is the one whose resources match the constraint you can actually measure.
02
Compare the configurations as complete systems
These are starting points for a shortlist, not measured performance rankings. Use each model’s specification and price to check the final choice.
Compare the configurations as complete systems| Candidate | Why put it on the shortlist? | Check before choosing |
|---|
| EPYC 7402P | Entry point into the EPYC range | Whether its memory and disk layout leave sufficient headroom |
|---|
| EPYC 7443P | More memory and larger NVMe devices than the 7402P offer | Usable disk capacity after the intended redundancy |
|---|
| EPYC 7513 | Additional cores and more NVMe devices | Whether the application benefits from both changes |
|---|
| EPYC 9354P / 9554 | Larger memory configurations and newer platform choices | Exact software, memory and storage requirements |
|---|
| Dual EPYC 7763 | The largest core and memory allocation in this range | How the workload behaves across a two-socket system |
|---|
03
Plan virtualization and database capacity separately
For virtualization, total the memory needed by guests and leave an allowance for the host and storage services. Record which guests can tolerate contention and which need predictable resources. A core count is not a promised number of virtual machines: guest workload, storage latency and network demand can change the answer substantially.
For a database, compare the active dataset with available memory, then consider transaction logs, indexes and recovery copies on disk. Test the application’s own query mix when possible. A generic processor benchmark is not evidence of the latency or transaction rate your database will achieve.
04
Keep storage layout and network expectations explicit
The listed NVMe capacity is raw device capacity. Mirroring, parity, filesystem metadata and free-space reserves reduce the space available to applications. Confirm the actual drive model and endurance where sustained writes matter; the word NVMe alone does not specify either.
Every EPYC offer here includes a 10 Gbps unmetered port. That describes the port and billing basis, not guaranteed throughput to every destination or a separate private cluster network. Identify the remote endpoints, recovery traffic and network separation you require before committing to the design.
05
Agree the operating system and recovery path
Select the operating system during ordering and confirm its version, supported drivers and access method before moving production data. Keep your SSH private key under your control; supply only its public counterpart. Administrator access makes you responsible for application maintenance, firewall rules and independent backups.
IPMI/KVM and baseline DDoS protection are included service entitlements. Confirm how recovery access is delivered and which protection applies to your traffic. Extra disks, hardware RAID, off-site backup, cross-connects and advanced DDoS protection require a separate quote.
06
Compare the term, region and alternatives before ordering
Compare the complete order using current prices. Weekly periods last seven days; monthly periods last thirty days. Supported cryptocurrencies fund USD balance. Choose Dallas, Ashburn or Portland according to availability and network requirements.
For fewer resources, compare Ryzen or smaller Xeon configurations. For bulk HDD capacity, start with the storage range. Let the workload justify the EPYC allocation.

Questions before you order
Is every EPYC configuration identical apart from core count?
No. Memory allocation, processor platform, number and size of NVMe devices, socket count and rental price vary. Compare the full configuration before choosing.
Can I use an EPYC server as a Proxmox host?
Proxmox VE is an orderable system choice. Confirm the image version, disk layout and network design for your deployment; the rental does not include managed guests or an automatically built cluster.
Does 10 Gbps mean I can transfer continuously at that speed?
It is the included port speed. Achieved throughput depends on the complete path and workload. Use relevant measurements and the service terms rather than treating the port label as an end-to-end guarantee.
